This training system includes the basic modules allowing students to experiment on ground-level telecommunications topics.

The purpose of the system is to enable students to acquire clear experimental views of the basic concepts, and a familiarization with the operational aspects, of work in a telecommunications laboratory.

Analogue Communications Modules

Four analogue communications modules are included in the BCT-2000 system, as follows:

 

BCT-2000-01

RF Oscillator

Oscillator frequency (calculated): 500kHz, 10MHz
Oscillator frequency (measured): 450kHz, 7MHz
Power supply: +12V, -12V

Second Order LPF and HPF

Low pass -3dB frequency: 1kHz to 10kHz
High pass -3dB frequency: 800Hz to 8kHz
Power supply: +12V, -12V

 

BCT-2000-02

AM Modulator

Carrier signal: 500kHz to 3MHz
Audio signal: 1kHz to 3kHz
Power supply: +12V, -5V

AM Demodulator

Carrier signal: 300kHz to 3MHz
Audio signal: 1kHz to 3kHz
Power supply: +12V, -12V

DSB-SC and SSB Modulator

DSB-SC Modulator:
Carrier signal: 500kHz to 1MHz
Audio signal: 1kHz to 2kHz
Power supply: +12V, -5V

SSB Modulator:
Carrier signal: 453kHz
Audio signal: 1kHz to 2kHz
Power supply: +12V, -5V

LM566 Modulator:

Audio signal: 1kHz to5kHz
Power supply: +5V, -5V

FM Demodulator

LM565 Demodulator:
Carrier signal: 2kHz to 20kHz
Audio signal: 1kHz to 5kHz
Power supply: +5V, -5V

FM to AM Demodulator:
Carrier signal: 500kHz to 2MHz

Three digital communications modules are included in the BCT-2000 system, as follows:

Analogue to Digital Converter

Resolution: 8 bits, 256 steps
Clock frequency: 100kHz to 800kHz
Input voltage range: 0V to 5V
Power supply: +5V

Digital to Analogue Converter

Digital input: 8 bits, 256 steps
Output voltage: single or bipolar
Power supply: +12V, -12V

 

BCT-2000-06

PWM Modulator

Using LM741 PWM:
Carrier signal: 1.5kHz to 2kHz
Audio signal: 500Hz
Power supply: +12V, -12V

Using 555 PWM:
Carrier signal: 5kHz to 10kHz
Audio signal: 1kHz
Power supply: +12V

PWM Demodulator

Modulation signal: 5kHz to 6kHz
Audio signal: 500Hz to 700Hz
Demodulation signal: 500Hz to 700Hz
Power supply: +12V

 

BCT-2000-07

FSK Modulator

Space signal: 1270Hz
Mark signal: 1070Hz
Output voltage: 0V to 5V
Power supply: +12V, -12V

FSK Demodulator

Multi Output DC Power Supply and Signal Generator Main Unit  

A Main Unit contains the Multi Output DC power supply and Multi Signal generator, Frequency Counter, DC Voltmeter for the BCT-2000 system, as follows:

1MHz Audio Signal Generator (Channel 1)

Sine, Triangle and Square waveform output

Frequency range : 1Hz to 1MHz in 6 decades

With fine adjust Frequency, Amplitude and DC offset control

Six frequency ranges:

     1Hz to 10Hz

     10Hz to 100Hz

     100Hz to 1KHz

     1KHz to 10KHz

     10KHz to 100KHz

     100KHz to 1MHz

Sine wave output: 0 to 12V peak to peak variable

Triangle wave output: 0 to 9V peak to peak variable

Square wave output: 0 to 22V peak to peak variable
